Argos Launches Sub-£100 Tablet

Argos has launched MyTablet, an entry-level 7” Android tablet

Priced at £99.99, the tablet is powered by a 1.6GHz dual core processor, and runs on a version of Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with 19 pre-installed apps, including Argos own mCommerce app.

Argos says the MyTabley is aimed at families, with built-in parental controls for younger users. Well aware of the proximity of Christmas, its pitching the device as both an ideal gift and Christmas shopping tool.

“Currently around 15 per cent of Argos sales are via mobile devices including tablets” said Argos managing director John Walden. “With the Argos app pre-downloaded on MyTablet, it’s now possible to do all your Christmas shopping online. From the moment you switch on MyTablet, you can order gifts for home delivery, or reserve them and then pop in store to pick them up.”

The retailer will start selling the MyTablet from tomorrow.
