Digital agency Outside Line has created an iOS app for lactose-intolerant people, on behalf of Arla Foods.
The Lactofree app offers information, support, and advice for lactose-intolerance sufferers, including information to help them choose from menus when eating out, and also do their food shopping. The app can also direct users to the nearest stockist of Arla Foods Lactofree product range.
“This is a perfect example of how brands can use digital technologies to provide truly inspirational tools that do much more than promote their products,” says Outside Line director, Ant Cauchi. “This is the first application supporting sufferers of lactose intolerance ever to launch on the app market, and we want to continue to help sufferers with more content and regular updates.”
It is estimated that up to 15 per cent of the UK population suffer from lactose intolerance, and the Lactofree app features a variety of functions to help them. The app allows other sufferers to recommend restaurants via the app, and users to search recommendations based on location. There is also a Recipe Club feature, which presents a variety of meals for users to make at home.
Louise Allen, brand manager of Lactofree, says: “As a growing brand it is fantastic that we can give our community a tool that will truly help them with their day to day lives. Mobile has become such a key medium for brands to connect with their audiences and we are delighted to provide an app that is truly innovative and provides such great value to those suffering with lactose intolerance.”
