Equal amounts of people in the US own smartphones and feature phones, according to research from Nielsen. Or near enough – as of February 2012, 49.7 per cent of US mobile subscribers owned smartphones, an increase of 38 per cent over a year earlier.
Android continues to dominate the smartphone market, with a 48 per cent market share. By comparison, 32.1 per cent have an iPhone, and 11.6 a Blackberry handset. That doesnt look likely to change, with Android making up 48 per cent of recent acquirers, and iPhone 43 per cent.
