Asda Mobile Trials £5 Per Month Deal

Asda Mobile has launched a £5 per month PAYG deal, in a package thats matched to average monthly customer usage.

The deal buys 100 minutes and 100 texts, which halves the price of Asdas entry-level PAYG package. The company says the deal is on trial throughout October.

James McMurrough, Asda Mobile buyer, says: “Mobile users will save a bundle with this incredible £5 deal. Even at £10 per month, the average Asda Mobile customer is getting a superb deal. This offer redefines value for mobile phone customers and shows that traditional landline usage may soon be a thing of the past.”

The deal comes as an Asda-commissioned poll by Omnibus finds that 19 per cent of 18-34-year-olds dont have a landline phone at home, with 47 per cent of respondents saying they could envisage not needing a fixed-line landline. This figure was as high as 67 per cent for the 18-34 age group, and Asda says it is phasing out the sale of fixed-line telephones as a result.

“Standing in one place to make a call just doesnt make sense anymore, nor does untangling the wire, so weve decided to hang up on sales of landline phones,” says McMurrough. “The truth is that mobiles are more powerful, more affordable and more convenient and there just isnt a compelling reason to have a landline phone anymore.”
