Mobile advertising in Asia Pacific will generate 4 per cent of total ad revenue by the end of 2011, according to research carried out by mobileSQUARED and published by mobile ad firm, Smaato.
The research found that the mobile advertising market in the region will be worth $2.8bn (£1.7bn) by the end of the year, and countries in the Asia Pacific region will see growth of between 32 per cent and 122 per cent compared to 2010.
The end of 2011 will see 672bn mobile internet users across Asia, with China accounting for approximately two-thirds of the overall growth, according to the report. Japan still represents the worlds largest mobile advertising market, worth $1.7bn in 2011, but mobileSQUARED projects that China will join Japan and the US as a billion-dollar market within the next five years.
