A new report from Portio Research has found that emerging markets in Asia Pacific – particularly China and India – have surpassed European markets in terms of subscriber base.
The report, titled Mobile Network Operator Groups 2011, offers analysis of the top 30 MNO Groups Worldwide, as determined by proportionate subscriber bases at end of 2010.
The report appraises the groups on various key performance indicators (KPI), and also provides profiles of the global leaders. 
According to Portio Research, there are now 14 Asia Pacific MNOs in the top 30 list, as opposed to 10 from Europe. The company says that MNOs have been expanding into the region through acquistions and mergers in developing mobile markets.
