Audi has launched A3 eKurzinfo, an iOS app created by Metaio, which acts as an Augmented Reality manual for the manufacturers A3 model.
By viewing elements of the car using the devices camera, the user will be shown relevant info overlaid on the screen. The app recognises 300 components, from windscreen wipers to engine parts, with content including both textual and animated instructions showing the user how to use or maintain that element.
The app, which is available in English, German and Japanese, follows in the footsteps of a similar app for the A1 model
“After the remarkable success of the first version of eKurzinfo, we are delighted to continue our partnership with the Audi AG,” said Metaio CEO Thomas Alt. “We see enormous potential in the field of interactive service applications. In the future it will be possible to automatically retrieve the specific information relevant in a certain situation.”
