Aunt Bessie’s Joins Shopitize Mobile Couponing Trial

Aunt Bessie’s frozen food has become the latest brand to sign up to trial the Shopitize mobile couponing service.

Around 1,000 shoppers in Britain are trying the free iPhone and Android money-saving apps, where users receive offers from participating brands direct to their phone. They then head to the supermarket, buy the goods and take a photo of the till receipt. The photo is uploaded to the Shopitize mobile ecosystem, where it is validated.

Consumers are rewarded with cashback, either by PayPal or cheque when their balance reaches £5. Last month, Kellogg’s and United Biscuits became the first two brands to join the trial. Retailers play no part in the redemption process.

“Mobile technology is becoming increasingly important to all brands as it enables direct interaction with the customer via a platform which reaches every demographic,” said Aunt Bessie’s brand manager, Helena Blincow.

“The Shopitize mobile couponing channel has the potential to bring about a land shift change in the way that brands connect with consumers. It’s a unique digital grocery service which puts brands back in the driving seat at retail outlets.”
