Auto Trader Launches iPad App

Motoring magazine and website Auto Trader has released a dedicated browsing app for the iPad. The launch of the app follows a 133 per cent rise in traffic to the Auto Trader website over the last six months.

The app allows users to browse and compare cars via an image-led interface. A new Garage function enables users to compare information, such as economy ratings and performance, from their own shortlist of vehicles. Its possible to compare up to four cars at once, with a variety of views.

The app also offers search-refining features, allowing potential car buyers to search based on criteria such as milage, location, or price.

The iPad app adds to Auto Traders digital portfolio – the magazine already has apps for iPhone, Android, and Nokia.

“Our iPad app provides a new way of experiencing Auto Trader to enhance the search for your next car,” says Nick Gee, director of mobile at Auto Trader. “While our website and Auto Trader Mobile are both incredibly successful platforms, our main objective was to redefine the experience for the iPad, providing opportunity to consume the UKs largest collection of used cars in a totally new way. We recognise that iPad users can happily use either the website or the iPhone app, but simply repurposing those platforms wouldnt take advantage of the iPads potential.”

The Auto Trader iPad app, is a free download from the Apple App Store. You can view a demo on YouTube
