Autocar Launches iPad Edition

Motoring magazine Autocar has launched an iPad edition and a weekly digital edition, via Zinio.com.
The first Autocar iPad app – Autocar: Fast Cars – is now available for download from the Apple App Store, priced at £2.99. The app enables readers to get up close and personal with 20 of the world’s most desirable cars, including the iconic Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari 458 Italia and the Aston V12 Vantage. Two more Autocar apps are currently under development for release in spring 2011.

Autocar has also launched a facsimile digital edition of its print magazine, which can be downloaded weekly here for £2.80 an issue. Readers who subscribe, at £89 per year for 51 issues, will find that their PC automatically downloads the latest issue every Wednesday morning, as soon as they go online. The digital issues can be viewed on PC or Mac and are also fully iPad compatible.

The Autocar: Fast Cars app has been created using only brand new content devised specially for the iPad, and features in-depth drives of the top 20 performance cars, as chosen by the Autocar team. On the iPad edition, images are transformed into full-screen galleries, there’s video to add depth to traditional reviews, and road-tester vox-pops, engine noises and pop-ups all bring the cars to life.

Autocar: Fast Cars is the first iPad app to be launched by Haymarket Consumer Media, and contains interactive advertising from Renault, Seat and Mercedes. The launch is being supported with 2m advertising impressions across the Haymarket portfolio.
