Awards Preview – Most Effective Sales Promotion Campaign

With the shortlist announced, the countdown to our 2015 Effective Mobile Marketing Awards has begun. Theres less than a month until the ceremony on 26 November in London, and between now and then, well be taking a closer look at each of the nominees in our 32 categories.

Today, well be focusing on the finalists for Most Effective Sales Promotion Campaign.

VoucherCodes.co.uk and Greggs teamed up for a week-long sausage roll give-away promotion, teased to VoucherCodes users ahead of launch, and supported with a cross-promotional email and proximity marketing strategy. The campaign helped boost in-store footfall and increased brand awareness for both brands.

Microsoft Mobile and M&C Saatchi Mobile – MWC 2015
In an effort to stand out from the hundreds of exhibitors in Barcelona for MWC, Microsoft Mobile – formerly Nokia – ran a six-day campaign targeting roaming devices only, in a geo-fenced radius around the conference centre and in bars, restaurants and hotels where attendees were likely to spend their evenings. The campaign successfully drew  generated leads and captured their details for further marketing activity.

Proelios Brand Gaming and Deep Silver Fishlabs – Volkswagen Group China Sports Car Challenge Mobile Game Series
To raise awareness of VW’s premium sports brands and products, the Sports Car Challenge racing games were launched on iOS and Android. This campaign introduced a new CRM feature, making it possible for players contact VW about any car theyre giving a virtual test drive in the game, generating 339 qualified sales leads for the brand over a 10-week trial.

Shopcade – Wedding Guest Outfit
As the summer wedding season approached, social shopping app Shopcade ran an article of the best wedding guest outfits available, promoted via email, Facebook and push notifications to existing users. Anyone who read the article was then sent personalised deal alerts when related items went on sale, boosting extra return traffic and sales.

Sure Max Pro (Unilever) and Mindshare – Sure Max Pro: Feeling the Heat?
Mindshare’s Intelligence team built a ‘Weather Tool’ which calculated the heat index across the UK to work out where people would be feeling the summer heat and, by plugging into the Ultra trading desk, deliver targeted ads to those users. In some areas, this targeting resulted in an ROI of up as much as £1.79 to every £1 spent.

Virgin Holidays and Manning Gottlieb OMD – Virtual Holidays
In January, the UKs biggest sales period for holiday buying, Virgin Holidays introduced Google Cardboard viewers into 50 of its stores, in order to stand apart from the competition. The viewers were available to queuing customers, and could be used to view immersive 360° videos of holiday locations, helping drive up sales for the period by five per cent and revenue by 12 per cent.

Vodafone and Ketchup Agency – Vodafone KaraKartal Summer Transfer
Tying into Vodafones sponsorship of Turkish football club Besiktas, sports community program KaraKartal sends offers to its members on match days — but it didnt stop during the leagues summer break, instead offering free calls or mobile data, with higher amounts for new customers. By the end of the campaign, KaraKartals subscriber base had almost quadrupled.

Vouchercloud – Eat Your Way Through Eurovision
Identifying that the Eurovision Song Contest was a peak traffic and revenue day for take-away brands, Vouchercloud partnered with Just Eat to attract new customers. Email and social messages were delivered during the day alongside display inventory, targeting serial users of Voucherclouds foot to go section, with a retargeting campaign once the programme began, helping drive a 131 per cent lift in sales revenue.
