Bada Competition Winner Flying High

App developer Marc Fortin is £100,000 better off today after winning Samsung’s Bada Developer Day UK Challenge with his TurboFlyHD virtual flight app. The competition was launched at the bada 2.0 Developer Day in November last year.

The winning app was awarded the top prize thanks to its universal appeal, usability and the best application of bada 2.0. TurboFlyHD allows users to fly around a virtual race track in a specially designed aircraft. Upon completing each level, players can choose a new aircraft and track, in order to vary their game experience. The aircraft is flown simply by tilting the phone from side to side and with its responsive controls.

“Having been based in the UK for some time, living and working, I jumped at the chance to enter this competition,” says Fortin. “I’ve always loved racing games, which is why I decided to create a futuristic racing game that would have a real sense of speed, and most importantly be really fun to play. Bada is a great operating platform and developing an app for the Wave III was easy, even with complicated graphics, sounds and 3D.”
