BB10 to Launch End of January Next Year

RIM has announced the launch date for its BB10 OS – 30 January, 2013.

The BlackBerry manufacturer will be holding a launch event on the day, unveiling the first two BB10 smartphones.

BB10 has long been viewed as RIMs great white hope, after the rough couple of years its had in the smartphone market. RIM seems to agree – its certainly taking its time over the launch, and has been working hard to make sure BB10 launches with a wide selection of apps, through a range of incentives.

“Our team has been working tirelessly to bring our customers innovative features combined with a best in class browser, a rich app ecosystem, and cutting-edge multimedia capabilities” said RIM president and CEO Thorsten Heins. “All of this will be integrated into a user experience – the BlackBerry Flow – that is unlike any smartphone on the market today.”

The OS has already received FIPS 140-2 certification, this far ahead of its launch, meaning government agencies will be able to deploy BB10 handsets as soon as it launches.
