BBC iPlayer Breaks 20m Downloads

The BBC iPlayer app has broken the 20m downloads mark on Android and iOS combined.

The biggest days for downloads were Christmas Day 2011 (229,200 downloads) and 2012 (385,600) – something which the Beeb is surely hoping will be replicated this year.

Back in September 2010, mobile made up just six per cent of iPlayer requests. In September 2013, that figure had risen to 41 per cent – a record 70m requests in total – with BBC Three comedies making up six of the top 10 programmes viewed on mobile.
