Ahead of tomorrows televised leaders debate, gambling operator Betfair has launched a web app, Unspinit.
Created with comedian David Schneider, the app presents users with a fruit machine-style interface which they can use to pick a topic and party leader. The app will then display a real answer from the debates and the Unspinit translation of that answer.
So, choosing the Lib Dems Nick Clegg and Recovery plans will show Cleggs statement: “We believe that by building a strong, modern, open economy we can become the powerhouse of Europe,” and Betfairs version: “I don’t really have a plan, just some words”. Users are then encouraged to share these on Twitter.
Unspinit is intended to remind users that Betfair offers political betting – theres a link to its odds on the general election, though unfortunately on the mobile we tested Unspinit on, this led to a 404 error. (Updated 16/4: After re-testing the app, this link is now working.)
