Big Brands Bring QR Codes to UK Consumers

QR code visibility in the UK and the Netherlands received a boost from big brands in Q1 2011, according to the latest report from mobile barcode solutions company 3GVision. Brands such as Heineken, Sky, Pizza Express, Grazia magazine, and Gamma DIY shops all adopted QR codes in campaigns during Q1/2011.

The US and the UK take the top two spots in the report, which measures the growth of mobile barcode use in Q1 2011. Italy, Germany and the Netherlands make uup the top five. The report does not, however, include Japan, which is some way ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to mobile barcode use.

According to the report, worldwide use has grown by 61.9 per cent since the last quarter. In the US, growth has been particularly striking – mobile barcode scans grew by 181.1 per cent over the last quarter of 2010, and 630 per cent when compared to Q1 2010.

The figures were compiled by 3GVisions i-nigma platform for managing and reporting on barcode campaigns.
