Birmingham introduces AI-powered stop smoking robo service

Birmingham City Council has turned to artificial intelligence-powered mobile app to try to help members of its community to quit smoking.

The ‘Quit with Bella’ app features a virtual stop smoking assistant called ‘Bella’, a community of users, and free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT)/e-cigarette provision with local pharmacy integration.

Quit with Bella, created by Solutions 4 Health, has been built on a decade worth of stop smoking service expertise, the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT) & National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, insights from over 200 stop smoking experts, and service user feedback.

“I’m delighted that Quit with Bella will be made available for free to the population of Birmingham to support smokers in giving up,” said Leena Sankla, Director of Public Health at Solutions 4 Health. “Quit with Bella was created to provide an on-demand, evidence-based smoking cessation service at scale, and it’s been helping smokers from diverse communities with dynamic needs to make the best decision of their life by quitting smoking. We look forward to the people of Birmingham being supported by Quit with Bella so they can live their best smoke free life.”

The app has already been rolled out in other parts of the UK including Reading, Liverpool, Peterborough, and Slough, to name a few.
