Internet security company Bitdefender has launched its first security suite for Android devices. 

Bitdefender Mobile Security uses cloud technology to manage threats to Android devices, which helps free up the devices battery use and operating system, says the company. 

The solution features an Application Audit to keep an eye on the permissions of installed apps, as well as an Anti-Theft feature that helps users track down a lost or stolen device. There is also a Web Security feature that alerts users to sinister websites. 

Alexandru Balan, Bitdefenders senior product manager, says the aim was to make a watertight security suite that is light on processor drain. “Security is guaranteed by Bitdefenders years of experience on the front lines of the war against e-threats,” he says. “At the same time, our in-the-cloud technology prevents battery strain, updates continuously and takes it easy on the operating system. Mobile security is, finally, truly mobile. Android device users can now be secure without having to constantly carry around their phone chargers.”
