BlackBerry has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Z30.
Its 5” touchscreen is the largest ever seen on a BlackBerry handset, the manufacturers first step towards the phablet market – the displays size is right on the cusp of the 5-6.9” limit which is generally used to define these hybrid devices.
The handset is also preloaded with BB10.2, the latest version of its OS, which features deeper incorporation of BBM, enabling users to preview and reply to messages without leaving the app theyre currently using, and the addition of Priority Hub, which gathers together all of the devices notifications into one place, sorted by the people the user communicates with most.
“The Z30 rounds out the BlackBerry 10 portfolio and is designed for people looking for a smartphone that excels at communications, messaging and productivity,” said Carlo Chiarello, Executive Vice President for Products at BlackBerry.
The handset will roll out from next week in the UK and Middle East – an unusual choice that perhaps reflects BlackBerrys current situation – with other regions following before the end of the year.
