Blippar was one of a small number of British companies invited to be part of the Britain is Great trade mission to the US – led by Prince Harry and the PM.
The tour culminated on Wednesday with a private event attended by Googles Eric Schmidt and Pete Cashmore of Mashable. Blippar was among around 100 guests invited to the fashion photography studio, which had been used by Madonna, in New Yorks Meatpacking district. The PM and the prince were presented with dolls of themselves created by UK 3D printing firm Makies.
Ambarish Mitra, CEO and co-founder of Blippar, said: “Blippar is committed to making augmented reality a commercially mainstream marketing medium and to making ‘blipping’ an everyday behavior. Having done thousands of campaigns with some of the worlds leading brands and publishers, we are proving the commercial and utility benefits of this tech.
“Events like this show that the UK government is committed to support entrepreneurs and help drive their business globally,” he said “We are growing rapidly in Britain and the US and we look at our invitation to this event as recognition for that growth on both sides of the Atlantic.”
The Britain is Great campaign was created by the UK government to promote the region as a great place to visit, study and do business. Blippar previously accompanied the PM on a trade delegation to Japan in April 2012.
