Bliss has secured a $1m (£800,000) investment as part of a pre-seed round that will be completed in the upcoming weeks. The round is led by the European VC, Global Founders Capital, which counts Facebook, LinkedIn and HelloFresh among the other companies it hs backed.
Bliss has developed a mobile platform that enables individuals and small businesses to generate income by reselling products over mobile chat and social network apps such as Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and others. The company provides its users with promotion and sales supporting capabilities, including payment solutions and client management tools.
Bliss is capitalizing on the rise of the Social Commerce trend, which already attracts millions who generate extra income by promoting and selling products they don’t manufacture. Bliss is aiming to reduce the technical barriers in this domain, while enabling mobile-first users to become a reseller and start earning income from this activity.
“By 2020, global social commerce sales are expected to surpass $72bn , representing 17 per cent of global eCommerce sales,” said GFC Partner, David Citron. “Similar to the 2008 financial crisis, which served as a catalyst for the proliferation of the sharing economy and the future of work models with tech giants such as Shopify, Uber, and Airbnb, we believe that the current unfortunate crisis will further accelerate this trend.”
The company’s vision is to make reselling easy to anyone who wishes to take part in this new economy and even connect people who seek an extra income with brands and merchants who want to distribute products with individual resellers without the hassle of managing this process.
As an example, Bliss said that Yoga instructors will be able to upsell to their clients with complimentary products such as Yoga mats, clothing and nutritional supplements. Bliss will connect them to brands and manufacturers, in addition to providing them with marketing material and product catalogues to share with their customers. More importantly, Bliss will provide the required technological tools and support to close the deals directly from their favourite mobile chat app that they use to communicate with their students.
The business model combines a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) subscription and a small commission for each closed deal.
Bliss was founded by Tal Adler (CEO) and Ori Magen (CRO). Adler is the ex-director of products at Gett and Incredimail. Magen is the former VP global marketing at Gett, director of global growth at Automattic and head of marketing at Moovit.
