BlueTalk to Launch Badminton App

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has partnered with BlueTalk, creator of the TeamBlogger social sports platform, to roll out a badminton app, in a bid to make the sport more accessible to fans. The app will launch in the first half of 2012, and will be available on a range of mobile platforms. Content will include statistics, results and videos.

“This mobile app will allow fans to access the sport on-the-go, and we believe that a strong badminton fan culture is established by providing alternative new media platforms for fans to engage and interact with one another,” says BWF COO, Thomas Lund.

BlueTalk has been active in the mobile space since 2006. In 2010, the company launched Footie, a mobile community platform for soccer fans, based on the TeamBlogger technology. The platform has so far been deployed by clubs including Benfica and African club Tout Puissant Mazembe, and for mobile operators including Indosat of Indonesia and Viettel of Vietnam.
