Blyk is closing down its MVNO operation in the UK at the end of August. The companys 200,000 subscribers will have their SIM cards deactivated on 26 August, with an Orange-branded ad-funded service, operated in partnership with Blyk, launching early the same month. The operatpr-branded service should, in theory, stand a much greater chancenof achieving the level of reach demanded by brand advertiosers that Blyk never manged to achieve
Orange has enjoyed a close working relationship with Blyk since it first entered the market in 2007, says Marc Overton, VP of Wholesale, Business Development & Partnerships at Orange UK. It is a progressive, innovative, and exciting company, and one which matches a proven capability with Oranges ambition to grow its media business in order to offer a portfolio of opportunities for consumers and media houses alike. Integrating Blyks capabilities into our own will allow Orange customers access to great brand offers, benefits and promotions, in a timely fashion, which are specifically tailored and relevant to them.
