BOLT Inks GetJar Rev-share Deal

App store GetJar has partnered with Bitstream, the developer of the BOLT mobile browser, to offer BOLT users easier access to GetJar’s library of more than 70,000 free mobile applications. Subscribers gain immediate access to GetJar’s massive library of applications via a GetJar branded app store link on the browser’s Favourites page.

The agreement gives BOLT users easy access to the apps on GetJar, while BOLT gets a revenue  share. Getjar charges developers for premium placement in its catalogue. When those apps are downloaded via BOLT, GetJar and Bitstream will split the revenue.

“Fundamentally BOLT is about getting the most utility possible from your mobile phone, a mission we share with GetJar,” says Bitstream CEO, Anna Magliocco-Chagnon. “This agreement also brings an important new revenue opportunity for BOLT, as any revenue generated through the download of sponsored premium applications is split between the two companies. We partnered with GetJar because are they are the most experienced, open application catalog working across multiple platforms such as Java ME, BlackBerry OS, Symbian – any device and platform used by our customers.”
Other companies already using GetJar’s open app store approach include Sprint, Rogers, LG, 3UK, The Carphone Warehouse and Virgin Mobile France. GetJar offers both branded and white-label solutions.

The BOLT mobile browser works on any Java ME-equipped mobile phone, which represents approximately 75 per cent of the estimated 4.6bn handsets in use worldwide, including BlackBerry and many Windows Mobile smartphones. You can download BOLT from GetJar here.
