Google has added the ability to book an Uber directly from the Google Maps app.
Previously, Maps users could look up the price of an Uber, but would then have to complete the booking using the Uber app.
The update means that as long as the user is signed into their Uber account, when they look up a destination, Maps will list the Uber ride options at the bottom of the screen. The user just has to tap on the one they want to book their cab. 
Google introduced Ride mode to Google Maps last year. In addition to the Uber option, when users open Ride mode, they can see a list of cab services in the area. Tapping on one of the providers brings up a list of options and promotions.
