WATCH: B&Q launches ‘You Can Do It’ campaign TV ad

B&Q has launched its latest ‘You Can Do It’ advert, celebrating nearly 40 years of the slogan.

In a bid to build on the brand’s reputation as a DIY staple, the new campaign aims to “empower people to overcome those doubts and get started” on their DIY journeys.

The campaign, which was created by Uncommon Creative Studio and Dentsu, follows a a raft of people facing doubts from themselves when they are tasked to complete home improvements, such as “You can’t”, “You don’t have the eye” and “It’s too big”, which many new DIYers can relate to.

The voiceover then states: “The voice is loud but guess what a sledgehammer is louder”, and shows the same woman carrying out the task, followed by the tagline: “You can do it when you B&Q it”.

In a LinkedIn post, B&Q Marketing Director, Tom Hampson said: “When over 90% of adults recognise your brand from a slogan, you know you’ve got something powerful. ‘You can do it when you B&Q it’ has been part of B&Q’s story for the best part of 40 years and is one of our most distinctive brand assets. It’s also never been more relevant – we know that two in three people put off starting a home improvement project. It can feel too big. Doubt holds them back.

“We want to empower people to overcome those doubts and get started, and this evening we launched our new campaign, bringing ‘You can do it when you B&Q it’ front and centre and aiming to inspire confidence for those embarking on their DIY journeys.”

He added: “As ever, campaigns only come together through the hard work and commitment of all those involved. Massive thanks to the awesome B&Q marketing team and our agency partners, Uncommon Creative Studio and Dentsu for your great work.”
