Bridgewater Gets Behind LTE

Bridgewater Systems has expanded its 4G partner and interoperability ecosystem for LTE (Long Term Evolution) and WiMAX networks. The company says it is continuing to expand its partner and interoperability ecosystem to accelerate and facilitate the industrys evolution to 4G; build best-of-breed multi-vendor and multi-access solutions; and enable service providers to deliver a superior, personalized 4G subscriber experience.
It adds that its goals are to give service providers unparalleled network deployment flexibility; deliver the industrys most comprehensive set of 4G control plane solutions; and provide the broadest multi-vendor industry support and interoperability.
Bridgewaters portfolio of subscriber data management, service and policy control products work across any network access technology and are designed to enable the transformation to 4G.
The companys open and standards-based 4G ecosystem includes Starent Networks, Alvarion, Motorola, NEC, Hitachi, Samsung, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks, WiChorus, and Verint.
Global LTE trials with major service providers are in the planning and implementation stages. Interoperability testing is also underway with several LTE solution providers. One example is an LTE trial in Asia being conducted by Hitachi and Bridgewater. In the trial, the Bridgewater Home Subscriber Server is being integrated with Hitachi's Evolved Packet Core solution, including the MME, the Policy and Charging Rules Function, and the Serving and Packet Data Network gateways, as well as professional services. Lab and interoperability testing is currently underway.
Bridgewater has over 35 WiMAX deployments globally, and has completed interoperability testing with major solution providers.
Collaborative and open partner ecosystems are one of the most effective ways to accelerate the transition to 4G, says David Sharpley, Bridgewaters Senior Vice President, Marketing and Product Management. We continue to invest in a broad partner and interoperability ecosystem to help our service provider customers rapidly launch 4G services and deliver innovative mobile services such as interactive video, machine-to-machine applications, and advanced social networking.
In a separate move, the company has also unveiled its LTE product suite, which includes the  Bridgewater Home Subscriber Server and Policy Controller, bith of which are anchored by Bridgewaters Subscriber Data Broker and are fully compliant with the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 8 Standards.
