Britains Got Talents Got In-App Voting

FremantleMedia is bringing in-app voting to this years Britain’s Got Talent live shows, kicking off this weekend. Viewers will be able to use the iOS app – which has received over 500,000 downloads, and seen peak traffic of up to 130k users interacting per episode – to vote for their chosen contestant.

Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) have worked together with app developer Tellybug on the voting system, which offers users a bundle of three votes for £1.49. The updated app will also be monetised through a live streaming series pass, priced from £1.99, which gives users access to four backstage cameras in the Britain’s Got Talent studio.

The programme will also follow The Voices lead with the addition of mobile shortcodes, delivered in partnership with BT Agilemedia, which will charge diallers a fixed rate of 50 per vote regardless of network provider.

“We know that todays viewers like engaging and interacting with our biggest shows via new platforms and on many devices,” says  Ann Cook, director of interactive, ITV, and managing director of ITL. “Therefore, it makes sense for us to introduce voting to the places where large numbers of viewers are already engaged. We’re really looking forward to seeing how audiences respond to both these two new voting platforms as Britain’s Got Talent moves into its exciting live final phase this weekend.”

As with the other voting methods, 15p per vote will go to the Royal Variety Charity, The Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund.
