Brits Spend Two Hours a Day Using Two Devices

MS X360 App Second ScreeningA typical multiscreen user in the UK consumes just under seven hours of screen media on an average day, according to a report from Millward Brown – and it takes them just five hours in real time.

Thats due to second screening, with users spending two hours every day using on two different devices simultaneously. However, the report notes, only seven per cent of second-screeners are meshing – accessing related content – a figure thats lower than almost any of the 30 countries surveyed.

Despite having the highest smartphone penetration of any of these markets, the UKs biggest share of time spend still belongs to the TV: around two and a half hours, or 36 per cent of daily screen time. By comparison, smartphones account for 27 per cent, or 111 minutes. And, in a spot of particularly bad news for mobile advertisers, the report found that Brits are more receptive to ads on TV than mobile.
