BTS members Hybe secures $80m for video game division

Hybe Interactive Media has secured $80 million in a strategic investment to enhance its game publishing operations.
The South Korean entertainment giant known for the immensely popular boy band BTS, runs several music labels across various markets. Hybe IM, with the company’s video game division, was established in 2021.
The $80 million investment round was led by Makers Fund, with participation from IMM Investment and Hybe itself.
The funds will be used to bolster its publishing and development capabilities, the company stated.
HYBE IM President Wooyong Chung said: “This substantial investment marks a significant turning point for HYBE IM in strengthening our competitiveness within the global games industry.
“With the support of Makers Fund, IMM Investment, and HYBE, we will strive for sustainable growth and innovation, solidifying our position as a full-service game company.”
The news comes as, last year, Hybe IM and Hybe invested in two Korean developers, Aqua Tree and Action Square.
