The Bud-E Fridge connects to wi-fi in order to display the number of beer cans currently on its shelves, and how close they are to optimal temperature, via a paired iOS or Android app.
When an NFL game is approaching, the owner will be notified of the current stock count in the fridge – and they will also receive a notification when the number of beers is starting to get low. If they want to order more, the app is integrated with beer home delivery service Saucey.
“We are constantly looking for innovative ways to enhance the consumer’s experience and the Bud-E Fridge represents an unprecedented advance,” said Lucas Herscovici, VP of connections at parent company Anheuser-Busch. “We’ve created something that shows how we continue to push the boundaries in technology and innovation, particularly in the connected home of the future, and provide beer drinkers with new level of convenience to better enjoy Bud Light with their friends.”
The fridge might sound like a promotional item, but Budweiser is selling it as a consumer product in California, with a $299 (£195) price tag, which will apparently rise to $599 at some point in the future.
