As smartphones get more technically advanced, theres one issue which seems to only be getting worse – their battery life.
But a team at the University of Illinois might have found the answer, with lithium ion microbatteries which have power densities 2,000 times higher than that of other microbatteries – meaning that the same power yield can be achieved by a much smaller battery, or that batteries of the same size will be much more powerful.
The research, published in the science journal Nature, would help batteries keep up with the advances in miniaturisation seen in other electronics.
The batteries can also be charged 1,000 times faster than existing batteries.
