BuzzCity Claims 89 Per Cent Smartphone Penetration

Mobile ad network BuzzCity claims in its latest mobile advertising report that smartphone penetration in the UK on its network is now 89 per cent, increasing to 92 per cent in the UAE and 94 per cent in Saudi Arabia.

Although this is nearly double the figure commonly seen for smartphone penetration in the UK, BuzzCity has confirmed that this reflects usage of Blackberry, Android and iOS devices across its network.

The company has served 131.5bn banner ads worldwide in 2012, already beating its total for the whole of 2011.

85 per cent of those surveyed for the report said they prefer the mobile internet to the PC version – although only 11 per cent, when given the choice at home, use their mobile instead of desktop.

BuzzCitys network claims to reach 4.16m people in the UK. The user survey questioned 10,800 people across 71 countries to find out how and where consumers are browsing the internet.
