Campaign Magazine Offers Cannes App

Campaign, the advertising and creative industry magazine, has launched its first news and community app for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

The app, called Campaign@Cannes, was developed by Propeller Mobile, and is available for iPhone. The company says future events apps will be available on Android, and BlackBerry devices as well. It serves as an interactive, real-time pocket guide to events and information at the Cannes Lions event. The festival takes place in Cannes, France, from 19-25 June.

The app is based on Propeller Mobiles proprietary white label event app platform: a development solution that can be customised and adapted to support almost any large-scale industry conference, exhibition or festival, providing an additional revenue stream for event organisers, exhibitors, or partners.

The app features news from the event, as well as photos and videos uploaded at the event. It also features guides on where to eat and drink, as well as maps (including a take me home feature for drunk execs), and social media sharing features.

“Cannes gives us the perfect opportunity to bring Campaign to the iPhone as members of the advertising industry will be out and about enjoying the festival and want to know whats hot, whats not and who to see – from Patti Smith to Sir Martin Sorrell – at the event,” says Paula Fox, head of product development at Campaign.

Martin Loat, CEO of Propeller Group says: “We are thrilled to be asked by Campaign to produce their first event app. The international business conference and events industry is waking up to the power of mobile apps as a compelling new way to enhance the delegate and exhibitor experience. But they need to monetise the new technology too, and our event app platform offers organisers, exhibitors and sponsors a new, direct channel into the hands and minds of attendees when they are away from the office and getting together at industry events, like Cannes. Companies will pay to use this mobile channel, as the sponsorship of the Campaign@Cannes app proves.”
