Carphone Warehouse Throws Telmap a Curve Ball

The Carphone Warehouse has selected Telmap, which specialises in advanced mobile navigation solutions, to power its own-branded mobile navigation application, The Carphone Warehouse Navigator, for the BlackBerry Curve 8310 smartphone.
The Carphone Warehouse Navigator comes pre-bundled with the BlackBerry Curve 8310 handset which went on sale at the weekend at The Carphone Warehouse retail outlets, in time for the Christmas shopping season.
Its a mobile navigation application that includes in-car and pedestrian navigation. Key features includes moving maps display, and free-text advanced local search capabilities, with auto-complete and fuzzy matching, enabling users to find what they are looking for even with partial information or misspelled entries.
Our customers tell us that satellite navigation is now a must-have application,” says George Dymond, UK Trading Director for The Carphone Warehouse. Our own-branded application will enable us to make the most advanced experience in mobile navigation available to our nationwide customer base.
Telmap CEO, Oren Nissim, adds:
The Carphone Warehouse is the biggest wireless retailer in Europe, and this partnership stands to represent the increasing number of people who will now have access to navigation via their mobile phone during their everyday lives.
The mobile navigation market is predicted to be worth 150 billion (1-7 billion) by 2015, according to recent research by Morgan Stanley.
