Newsroom solutions provider CCI is to offer WoodWing Software’s iPad Reader App under an OEM agreement, as part of its solutions.
The app makes it possible to publish digital publications on the iPad and freely blend content, design and interactivity within a single publication. This flexibility, says WoodWing, combined with the support for payment models through Apple’s App Store, makes the iPad Reader an important component to drive a new business model for paid content. A growing number of publishers around the world have already gone live with iPad digital publications based on the WoodWing app.
“By integrating WoodWings iPad Reader app into our editorial solutions, CCI is able to offer a flexible and proven solution for publishing interactive content to the iPad,” says CCI solution strategist, Ulrik Cramer. “This proven solution, with the DNA of a true digital publication, which includes design and payment models, gives our customers fast access to the iPad platform, allowing them to leverage and explore its possibilities.” 
Content for the iPad is created inside CCI NewsGate or CCI NewsDesk in much the same way content is created for other publishing channels. Either Adobe InDesign or CCI LayoutChamp can be applied, in combination with CCIs template-driven automated page production. Content is then packaged for a digital publication and distributed to the iPad Reader app. Customers can create a library of issues available for download inside the Reader app. The apps offer many configuration and customization possibilities, allowing publishers to distinguish themselves and fully brand the app experience.
