The new service, which is the first of its kind in South Africa, enables subscribers and mobile users from any mobile network to browse and purchase national and international music tracks, ringtones, wallpapers and games, via any WAP-enabled handset, or from a PC. Cell C partnered with io global to deliver the service over the io global Open Trading Platform.
Users can select, pay for, download and enjoy content, quickly and seamlessly on their mobile, or on their PC. All packaging, pricing, delivery and real-time billing for Juice is automated by the io global Platform, enabling Cell C to deliver an enhanced mobile experience to consumers on all cellular networks.
Cell C secures revenue from each digital download immediately, as customers have the option to pay in a variety of ways, including credit card, via their next mobile telephone bill, through premium rate SMS, or by immediate deduction for prepaid customers.
The Juice service enables Cell C to provide mobile phone users across the entire country with access to a wide range of International and local content, says io global CEO, Brendan Dowling. Through the flexibility of the payment options and by providing content which appeals to a broad audience, it positions Cell C as the leading digital content provider in the South African marketplace.
