Celtic parkCeltic Stadium, which has already won awards for its stadium wi-fi and accompanying app, will now enable fans to access in-play betting.

Sports Revolution, who designed the app and installed the in-stadium wi-fi, have partnered with Unibet to introduce real money betting into the CelticLIVE app, with in-play odds linked to live events as they unfold.

Over the past year, CelticLIVE has been well-received by fans, with over 50,000 app downloads and 155,000 fans registering to the stadium wi-fi. Users have watched over 79,000 videos through the app, and reached 4.7m fans through social media.

Previously, access to betting sites via Celtic Parks wi-fi has been blocked, but the partnership with Unibet will satisfy fan demand for access to betting through the CelticLIVE app, beginning at this weekends clash with Dundee.

“We are excited by the potential of stadium wi-fi for matchday betting, allowing us to add a new dimension for fans,” said Ed Nicholson, head of UK marketing operations at Unibet. “We are one of the UKs fastest growing betting sites and we want to be ahead of the game in the technology we use.

Live betting is the future of online sports betting, and stadium wi-fi is a perfect way to fuel that demand and for us to make a mark. Its new, its different and it adds real value for the fans. We expect it to take off with other clubs and wanted to get in early with this first application at the UKs first fully connected stadium, Celtic Park.”
