Channel 4 Steps into Mobile Games Publishing

All 4 logo LATESTUK broadcaster Channel 4 is establishing a games publishing arm, All 4 Games.

The brand will not only publish games directly commissioned and funded by the broadcaster – which in the past have included The Snowman and The Snowdog, Million Pound Drop, and Made in Chelsea – but also games from small third-party developers across the globe. All 4 promises support to these developers with development, marketing and promotional.

Based in Glasgow, the department will launch this summer, led by Channel 4’s current games commissioning editor, Colin Macdonald.

“Channel 4 is renowned for working with growing creative companies and I’m delighted that we’re able to throw even more of its weight behind the games industry,” said Macdonald. “With over 1.5m apps for users to now choose from, discoverability has become the biggest problem facing mobile game developers – so it’s exciting to be able to do even more to support them and promote their amazing work to a wider audience.”

This launch is part of a wider evolution of Channel 4s digital offering, which has also seen the 4OD video streaming service rebrand under the All 4 name.
