Mobile marketing company Vibes Media has teamed up with the Chicago Bulls basketball club to create a campaign that allows fans to text in to receive real-time in-game updates. Fans can opt to receive live scores and also player statistics.
The Chicago Bulls wanted to offer fans the ability to receive self-driven updates. Vibes worked with the Bulls to create mobile functionality that pulls dynamic game information directly from the National Basketball Association (NBA) game feed and distributes it via text messages. Fans opt into the service by texting SCORE to BULLS (28557) during live games.
Additionally, fans who are interested in real-time statistics for a particular player can text the players last name to BULLS to receive a live stat update.
“SMS has been a key component of our digital marketing platform for three years,” said Jeremy Thum, director of interactive marketing for the Chicago Bulls. “Introducing this groundbreaking functionality, however, moves us closer to our goal of expanding mobile capabilities while allowing our fans control over content they receive. In just a short time, the campaign has already attracted more than 4,000 unique users and continues to grow with each game.”
Jack Philbin, Vibes co-founder and president, says: “More brands are taking advantage of mobile to connect with consumers, because your mobile phone is your most personal device, and it gives users information immediately. The Bulls have created a great program that lets their fans always stay connected to the team.”
