Child Friendly Version of YouTube on its Way?

Baby child toddler on phoneGoogle is rumoured to be working on a version of YouTube aimed at under-10s, and free of inappropriate videos and comments.

Details are scarce, but sources cited by The Information revealed that YouTube has approached video producers about creating specific child-oriented content.

Its easy to see the appeal of such a service, with ever-growing concern about the content children can access online – although its worth noting that YouTube already features a filtered safety mode, as well as the school-orientated Youtube EDU.

It would also present an interesting opportunity for advertisers looking to target a younger audience – presuming, of course, that the new site was ad-supported.
