Children with Cancer UK charity is crowdsourcing positive thoughts

Thinking of YouChildren with Cancer UK has linked up with a mobile app designed to change the charity giving experience by tagging positive words to donations.

The ‘Thinking of You’ app is backed by leading UK charities including Shelter, Stroke Association, Rethink Mental Illness, Children with Cancer UK, and Make-A-Wish, and supported by The Charities Aid Foundation. It enables users to create a ‘thought’ to send alongside an optional donation, enabling them to provide the recipient with words of support.

Ahead of Cancer Survivors Day on 2 June, Children with Cancer UK is aiming to crowdsource 372 thoughts – one for each child diagnosed with cancer. These thoughts are sent with an emphasis on ‘no need to reply’, so the recipient knows they are being thought of without feeling the pressure of responding.

“Thoughts matter and if you’re a family going through a tough time, knowing people are thinking of you means a lot,” said Emily Roff, head of fundraising at Children with Cancer UK. “It was a natural fit to work with Thinking of You to crowdsource thoughts and to demonstrate if you’re affected by children with cancer, you’re not alone.”
