Chorus App is In Tune

Isobar Mobile, the Aegis-owned agency formed last year by a three-man breakaway – Chris Smith, Tim Dunn, Matt Jones – from Mobile Interactive Group, is working on a mobile app called Chorus that enables what the company describes as: “unique collaborative experiences across mobile devices”. Currently in Beta phase, the app synchronises audio and video across iOS, Android and Symbian devices. A Windows Phone version is currently in development.

Speaking with Mobile Marketing this morning, Isobar MD Chris Smith described two possible applications of the app. “People go to gigs and hold their phones in the air. Let’s say you’re at a Coldplay gig and they play Yellow. The opening notes of the song could trigger the app to turn the phone’s screen yellow.”

The second application would enable the creation of a video wall out of hundreds or thousands of handsets. In this mode, an image would be projected onto a video wall made up of the handsets, with each handset displaying the appropriate part of the image.

“We are now looking for brands to partner with us on this,” Smith told us. “Retail and event brands are showing a particular interest.  We have a working Beta version and it won’t be long until the real thing is ready.”

There’s more information about Chorus here, including some demo videos. The videowall one is particularly impressive.
