Digital marketing company Circ.us has created a free mobile racing game for Red Bull that allows users to create their own tracks using real-world cans of the energy drink, writes Andy Penfold.
Red Bull Augmented Racing is a game for Apple’s iOS platform. Users lay out the shape of their race track on the ground using cans of Red Bull, then ‘trace’ the shape of the track with the camera that’s built into the iPhone or iPod touch. The software then creates the track based on information from the iOS device’s location- and position-aware hardware.
Tracks can then be raced in the game, and shared with friends. Users can also upload the track for all users of the game to play and try to set the best time.
“This is a new way for fans to further connect with the Red Bull Racing Team and enjoy the race experience on a handset,” says Red Bull Racing Team Toyota driver, Brian Vickers.
The game is promoted on Red Bull Augmented Racing 12-packs of Red Bull. There’s more information here.
