YouTube has revealed its top trending videos of 2015, based on the amount of time people spent watching, sharing, commenting, liking, and more, which together account for more than 25m hours of viewing time.
Topping the global list is Tianne Kings Silento – Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) #WatchMeDanceOn, which features a group of children performing a choreographed dance to Silentos hit song, which has been watched nearly 116m times since it was posted in April.
In second place, meanwhile, is a marketing video – the Super Bowl TV spot for Supercells app Clash of Clans. The video cuts between live-action footage of actor Liam Neeson and the trademark animated style seen in other ads for the game, and has clocked up 83.5m views since February.
Another notable inclusion is the pro-diversity Love Has No Labels video from US public service announcement body The Ad Council, which takes the number four spot. The top 10 also features clips from four TV programmes: segments from late-night US chat shows James Corden, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, as well as an audition from Britains Got Talent.
In the UK, the Britains Got Talent clip perhaps unsurprisingly took the top spot, but the top 10 also featured a teaser trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the TV ad for EA Sports videogame FIFA 16.
These lists, however, dont include music videos, the biggest of which overshadow any other content on YouTube. Wiz Khalifas See You Again, in the top spot, has received 1.2bn views since it was first posted in April. While its the only video in the list to break a billion this year, even the 10th biggest – the official video for Silentós Watch Me – received more than three times the views of the top non-music content of the year, which was also focused on the same track.
