Clegg Leads Flirto’s Election Snogfest

Predicting the outcome of a general election is always a dangerous game, but online and mobile flirting company Flirtomatic has devised a novel way to see which of the three leaders is most popular with its user base.

Since 30 April, Flirtomatic has been running three different user profiles – one for each of the major party leaders, Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg – and has been inviting users to vote for their favourite leader by sending them a SuperSnog – one of the most popular pieces of social content. Flirtomatic has also been giving users the chance to rate the leaders profiles out of 10 and send them gifts.

As of 10:30 this morning over 10,000 users have sent a SuperSnog to one of the leaders. Clegg is in the lead, with 34.4 per cent of the votes, or rather, snogs. Cameron is just behind with 33.9 per cent, while Brown is trailing on 31.7 per cent. Clegg is still the highest rated out of the leaders, with Flirtomatic users rating him 6.9 out of 10. Brown and Cameron are both rated 5.8 out of 10.

“Our users represent a complete cross-section of the country, all above the legal age of voting, so we thought it would be interesting to see what they thought about Brown, Cameron and Clegg,” says Flirtomatic CEO, Mark Curtis. “How they’ve responded has been fantastic. We’ve had 10,000 votes in just a few days and it’s an extremely close race at the moment.”

The profiles will stay up and voting will continue until 10am on Thursday 6 May, after which the votes will be counted and a winner will be announced. All of the Flirtomatic users who snogged the winner will win 10 free SuperSnogs.
