Cloudmark, which specialises in carrier-grade messaging security, and AerVox, a Spanish telecoms software firm, have announced a partnership to deliver comprehensive messaging security capabilities for Datatronics mobile operator customers across Europe. AerVox has selected Cloudmarks Authority for Mobile software as its sole platform for SMS mobile content filtering to deliver the most accurate mobile messaging security protection for providers and their customers.
As part of a partnership with Datatronics, which supplies fixed and wireless telecoms market solutions, Cloudmarks technology will be integrated into the AerVox SMS Firewall, delivering real-time protection at the edge of the network. The SMS Firewall, and future MMS functionality, has been designed to allow wireless operators to take preventive and reactive measures against potentially dangerous messaging threats such as spamming, spoofing, faking or flooding in real time.
In research conducted by Cloudmark last year, mobile operators across Europe admitted that up to 20% of their users are affected by SMS spam. Another related Cloudmark survey showed that two thirds of customers would consider leaving their mobile network due to spam, highlighting the prevalence of the threat, and the importance of protecting mobile users.
Mobile spam, phishing, viruses and other forms of abuse threaten subscriber loyalty and can significantly damage a mobile operators brand, says Jacinta Tobin, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales at Cloudmark. This makes it critical for operators to deploy solutions that protect their subscriber base and network against a broad range of messaging threats.
Cloudmark Authority for Mobile integrates into AerVoxs mobile messaging platforms, protecting mobile networks and subscribers from on-network and off-network spam, phishing and virus attacks over SMS. Cloudmark Authoritys advanced content filtering goes beyond protocol level controls that counteract signalling fraud between mobile networks to also catch on-network attacks, such as spam from mobile bots or prepaid accounts, as well as sophisticated off-network abuse already accepted by partner networks.
Designed for large-scale carrier implementations, Cloudmark Authority technology scans mobile messages at more than 20 times the rate of competing solutions, the company says.
