Messaging security specialist Cloudmark has announced a year of record growth in 2008, during which the company strengthened its share of the global service provider market, gained presence in key vertical markets and augmented its product portfolio to offer an end-to-end solution for Internet service providers (ISPs), mobile operators, social networking firms and web hosting companies. Cloudmarks revenue grew 60% in 2008 as the company added more than 50 new ISPs and web hosting customers, as well as five Tier 1 mobile operators worldwide. Additionally, for the fourth straight year, Cloudmark achieved a 100% retention and licensing renewal rate from existing customers.
In 2008, Cloudmark continued to focus on delivering messaging security solutions for ISPs and mobile operators, leveraging Cloudmark Authority, the companys flagship messaging anti-abuse platform.
The company also leveraged its expertise and technology to deliver new, innovative solutions to meet the needs of new markets. This included the launch of Cloudmark Authority for Social Networking, which Cloudmark says is the only commercially deployed solution to combat all categories of social networking abuse; and ActiveFilter, which efficiently cleans up unwanted messages delivered to the service provider mail store, improving the user experience and freeing valuable storage capacity.
Cloudmark now provides protection for more than 850 million mailboxes for more than 100 of the worlds largest service providers and mobile network operators. During 2008, the company also expanded its relationships with service providers and mobile operators through key partnerships, including IBM, Openwave and Critical Path. Additionally, Cloudmark expanded its operations in Japan, China and South East Asia, forming strategic partnerships in Japan with Fuji Xerox and TransWARE.
In 2008, despite overall market downturns and M&A consolidations across our industry, Cloudmark not only survived, but thrived and is achieving profitability, says Cloudmark CEO, Hugh McCartney. Over the past 12 months, we have made significant inroads into the European and Asian markets, as well as North America, and built our position as the leader in wireless and e-mail filtering. In addition, through continued dedication to technical excellence and support, we have retained all our existing customersWe are excited to continue this momentum into 2009.
