Messaging security firm Cloudmark has unveiled a product that aims to address the issue of mobile spam.
The Cloudmark Mobile Messaging Security Solution is a carrier-level messaging security solution that will enable operators to combat messaging threats with advanced mobile anti-virus, subscriber behaviour analysis, and subscriber preference capabilities.
The new solution allows mobile operators to create customised scenarios which best suit the needs of their network and subscriber base, while also protecting against annoyances and malicious spam activity. Cloudmark says it prevents viruses and malware from reaching handsets, protects subscribers against financial fraud, lets users report spam, and deploys anti-bullying features such as messaging blacklists.
Alan Ranger, VP of mobile marketing at Cloudmark, says: “Mobile spam, fraud and malware have become a real problem for operators and subscribers alike over the last 12 months. The high returns available in the mobile channel have attracted attacks from traditional email spammers, who bring with them 10 years experience in avoiding detection in the fixed-line world. The Cloudmark Mobile Messaging Security Solution provides operators with the requisite tools to effectively address this problem now and help to prevent mobile messaging attacks from becoming as prominent as email attacks.”
The company has also lauched its 2011 Mobile Spam Guide, which is a toolkit to help mobile ecosystems address the problem of mobile spam. More information on the 2011 Mobile Spam Guide can be found here.
