US network Comedy Central has dramatically expanded its deal with Snapchat, with a massive slate of new original programming planned for its Snapchat Discover channel following the success of its initial experiments.

The channel has announced renewals for four existing series, Hot Takes with Brandon Wardell, Like It with Liza, Swag-A-Saurus with James Davis and Quickie with Nikki, its most popular current series, which will return for a new series on 19 April.

In addition, the company has greenlit nine new series encompassing a range of formats including animation, sketch comedy, reality television, stand-up and late night-style shows, with titles such as Deadliest Chef, Youre Wrong and Message From the Future.

Comedy Central was one of the inaugural partners for Snapchat Discovers launch in January 2015, and the channel has become one of the most popular ways for fans to share content from the network. The companys channel was ranked as the second most popular Discover channel in a survey of Snapchat users aged 13-24, and the network recently launched an international version.

“Its been great fun experimenting with established and emerging talent on our Snapchat Discover channel,” said Kent Alterman, president of original programming for Comedy Central. “It allows us to play with form and format, and the reception from our fans and the creative community has been tremendously gratifying.”
